Very Rare Bookends by Frankart. Circa 1929. Original Paint, great condition. Arthur Frankenberg began designing and producing bookends in New York City in 1921. In 1924, he, incorporated under the name FRANKART, INC. As a designer and sculptor, Frankenberg created some of the company’s most stylized Art Deco and Art Nouveau. Dimensions 8" high with base 4 1/2" and tray 8.5" x 8.5". Rare as a set. About FRANKART: Show off your Art Deco stylings with beautiful pieces of Frankart. This manufacture of decorative pieces developed in the early 1920s, with the height of popularity in the late 1920s to 1930s. Started by sculptor Arthur Frankenberg, the company produced pieces for the home that were collectible as well as functional. Lamp pieces were cast in iron and other metals and completed with enamel overlays. Figurines are also a popular style from this artist, with Deco images such as nymphs, flappers, and other stylized images cast in bronze and green colors. Frankart items can be found in many different areas of the home, from wall sconces to cigarette trays, and these styles are all available on the vast inventory on eBay. Far from just pretty, these pieces often were accents to important furniture in the home, such as bookends on a bookcase. Today, these items are collected for both their craftsmanship as well as their portrayal of a stylistic era. Due to the sturdy materials used, these pieces still look great almost 100 years after they were made.
