This is a very rare and hard fo find book. Signed, Limited Edition #238 out of 260 of Scotland's Gift, Published in 1928. 340 pages, plus six additional tipped-in pages in color, as issued. Red cloth with gilt lettering and original vellum binding. Some minor nicks to the red front board and spine. Overall, in very good condition with a clean, crisp copy of the National map included in the back. The book includes over 57 illustrations. Charles Blair Macdonald was one of the founders of the U.S.G.A. He also designed the National Golf Links of America and Mid Ocean Club in Bermuda. This book covers early American golf, the beginnings of the U.S.G.A., the history of the National Golf Links and his design activities. Charles Blair Macdonald was a master storyteller and his insights into the game and its history, traditions, and how it developed in the US are still valuable today. This is one of the true treasures of collectible golf books. Donovan & Jerris describe the book as one of the most important books on the history of golf in America.
