27 illustrations, frontispiece with tissue guard. 334 pages. In original green pictorial cloth, cover with black lettering and color illustration in azure blue, red, white and black of Old Tom Morris and another playing on the links. Gilt lettering on spine with illustration of crossed clubs and ball in black, publisher's icon and illustration of crossed clubs and balls in black on rear cover, the title page printed in blue and black. One of the true classics of golf literature, Reverend Tulloch wrote this to be presented for Tom Morris's 87th birthday. It is an intimate account of Morris' life by a man with first-hand knowledge of Morris and the other major golfers of the day, paying particular attention to Morris' competitive career. An often-overlooked achievement of Morris' was his appointment by the R & A as "Keeper of the Green" at the links of St. Andrews, thus becoming the first golf superintendent, a profession in high demand today.
