Antique BGI John Dunn one piece wood shaft driver. Rampant Lion Cleek. Mark on crown as well as B.G.I. Trademark.  This club dates from late 1890 to 1903. The club is 43" long. The shaft and head of the club are made from one piece of wood. B.G.I. was one of the 1st three Golf Club Makers in America-starting about 1898 & ending mysteriously in less than 10 years. They were a creative company & made quality golf clubs. B.G.I. was the first company to use a numbering system to identify their different model clubs by adding a number on the shaft of the club. 'B.G.I. Co. Trade Mark' is stamped on the head. B.G.I. stands for Bridgeport Gun Implement Co., so yes they started off making guns and other related equipment. Progressive and ahead of their time, this high quality workmanship is prevalent in this club. Their elegant design is apparent in their scareneck woods. Please see other images for condition of leather face.
