The " Schenectady putter" refers to a type of golf putter with a shaft fastened near the center of the head, which was invented in Schenectady, New York, and gained fame after Walter Travis used it to win the 1904 British Amateur. The Schenectady putter was invented by Arthur F. "Frank" Knight, an electrical engineer at General Electric and an avid golfer at the Mohawk Golf Club in Schenectady, NY.
