Marion Hollins, a wealthy American amateur golfer, was the first female golf course developer. She helped create The Women's National Golf and Tennis Club, Cypress Point Club, and Pasatiempo Golf Club. Hollins was also the ultimate reason Bobby Jones hired Dr. Alister MacKenzie to design Augusta National Golf Course. The Women’s National Golf and Tennis Club, Glen Head, Long Island - 1923. Hollins was instrumental in starting The Women’s National, a club that was owned, financed and managed entirely by women. Male golfers were not permitted to be members but they could play the course as guests.
