Presented to Horton Smith as an Honorary Life Member of the PGA sterling silver pin. Ren enamel and silver. Horton Smith was the first tournament star of the modern era. In 1929, at age 21, he won seven tournaments and would go on to win 30 titles during his career, including the inaugural Masters in 1934, and capturing the 1936 title. While PGA President, Smith devoted much of his efforts to improving educational programs for PGA members. Since 1965, the PGA of America has annually presented the Horton Smith Award, honoring a PGA Professional for outstanding and continuing contributions to professional education.
